Microsoft Word v. X and Word 2004: Stalls not gone

Well, I guess I spoke too soon. I have continued to use Word 2004 with the status bar hidden today, and I am afraid I am still experiencing the stalls. For example, right now I am in a table cell, I type an AutoText abbreviation for one of my AutoText entries, I hit F3 to expand it, and I have to wait 2–3 seconds before the expansion actually takes place.
Maybe the elimination of the status bar has made the stalls shorter. But they are definitely not gone.
Bummer.
