More on favicons

Just so you know, I’ve been experimenting with favicons a bit more, and have now created what I believe is a version of my favicon for Betalogue that has a transparent background and should include two sizes: 16×16 and 32×32 pixels.

Right now, when I check my site with Camino and Safari, they are still using the old icon, but I suspect there might be some caching issues involved. If you notice anything weird, let me know by clicking on the link below.

I think Safari Icons are stored in the “~/Library/Safari/Icons” folder.

Looks excellent now! Background is transparent and the B character has the right greenish hue.

Thanks Michel, that did it (although trashing the Icons folder removed all icons for all web sites, of course — but I guess they’ll just get reloaded from the sites).

I think I still have some cleaning up work to do… The icon doesn’t look good at all when it’s selected.

Well, I’ve uploaded a new version… The white cast is a bit better, but it still doesn’t look that great over a dark background. I guess it’s pretty much unavoidable. It’s either that (transparency with smooth transition) or forcing a white background, which I see a number of other sites do (such as http://www.zeldman.com). Oh well.
