GarageBand 3.0: Double-clicking on title bar minimizes window regardless of System Preferences setting

In Mac OS X’s System Preferences, under the “Appearance” tab, there is an option called “Minimize when double clicking a window title bar.” On my machine, this option is not checked.
Yet when I am in GarageBand and I double-click on the title bar of my GarageBand project window, Mac OS X still minimizes the project window, regardless of what the option in System Preferences says.
This would be a minor bug if it wasn’t for the fact that, immediately below that title bar, there is the project “ruler” that shows the beats and measures for the project:
And it just so happens that double-clicking on a location in that ruler is a shortcut for getting the play head to jump to that particular location and getting the playback to start automatically from that location.
I use this shortcut all the time. And of course, quite frequently, my double-clicking is off by a few pixels and then… Mac OS X minimizes my entire GarageBand project window!
And that’s how a seemingly minor bug becomes a significant annoyance. As usual, the bug report was submitted, but there’s no sign of a bug fix any time soon. After all, who cares about such details?

Same thing happens with the iTunes Equalizer window.
