It was more of the same today in the English Premier League, although Everton did give Manchester United a decent scare. Everton were extremely poor in the first half and gave themselves a mountain to climb, with Man U leading 3-0 at the break. But the manager made a triple substitution at half-time and it made an immediate impact. Everton were able to get back on level terms, only to concede a silly goal (after all that hard work) in the last minute of the game, which gave Manchester a victory that was hardly deserved. In truth, they were very poor defensively in the second half, and looked very ordinary in all aspects of their game. And even the two Saha goals in the first half didn’t look convincingly on-side to me. But they still got the three points. Oh well.

It was a rather different story at Molineux where Wolverhampton were hoping to add another victory over a top team to their fairly decent home record. The first half was fiercely contested on a rather poor pitch, and the game was 1-1 at the half. But Arsenal were very convincing in the second half and didn’t really have any trouble beating Wolves 3-1 in the end, reclaiming the top spot in the league. New boy Reyes still appears to be finding his feet in English football, and that’s not exactly surprising. I guess we need to give him more time.
