Safari Beta 2

Apple has just released a new beta of Safari (only via Software UPDATE for now) — and it’s a must-have. (It works under Mac OS X 10.2.3, in case you have yet to upgrade to a more recent version.) As expected, tabbed browsing is there, and it works great.

Safari also has an AutoFill feature, which integrates the Address Book information. Makes sense!

A less obvious feature is what happens, after you’ve enabled tabbed browsing, when you cmd-click on a button in your Bookmarks Bar which is a folder. (Normally clicking on it brings a contextual menu with the contents of the folder.) When tabbed browsing is enabled, cmd-clicking on that button simultaneously opens as many tabs as there are bookmarks in the corresponding folder and loads each and every page in a tab in the current window. Another take on the “click once, open many” approach to bookmarking!
