Robert Woodward writes an opinion piece about Arsenal’s performance in Europe:

Arsenal still struggling in Europe

It pretty much confirms my feelings about the whole thing, which is that Champions League performance is not based on creativity and inventive play, but on defense.

Yes, “over-elaboration” can be frustrating at times, but it’s a heck of a lot more pleasant to watch than tackles and “grit”. If I want grit, I’ll watch a rugby game, thank you very much.

I still hope that Arsenal can make it without changing the very essence of their game. They proved, with their recent FA Cup win at Old Trafford, that they can be grittier than usual… but I guess that they are still HAVING a bit of a hard time doing so at home in front of the fans.
