Word X: French spell checker blunders

The French spell checker in Word X does not recognize “etc.” and “km” (abbreviation of “kilometer(s)” as proper French words.

To make matters worse, since “etc.” contains a period, a bug in Word X prevents the “Ignore All” function from working properly, which means that, if you try to click on “Ignore All” when you encounter the first occurrence of “etc.” while checking the spelling of a French document, it doesn’t work, Word doesn’t ignore the “error”, and refuses to proceed until you click on “Ignore” rather than “Ignore All”.

Grrr.

(I normally use Spell Catcher X for spell checking on-the-fly, but I usually also do a final CHECK of my Word documents with Word’s own spell checker itself, since Word’s proprietary formatting is not always left intact by Spell Catcher’s CHECK Selection feature.)
