Interface 101 in Mac OS X’s Address Book

Go to Mac OS X’s Address Book. Click on the “+” button to add a new entry. Type something in the “First Name” field (or in the “Last Name” field if you’ve reversed the ORDER of the two). Press tab to go to the next field. Type something.

Then press cmd-Z to “undo” your last action.

Address Book “undoes” the entire creation of the address book entry! It reverts to a blank address book entry with nothing in it.

It’s a particularly glaring mistake from a UI point of view. The cmd-Z/Undo command is supposed to undo the last thing you did, and, in a situation such as this one, the last thing the user did is obviously type the last name — not type the first name as well!

Sometimes you wonder how much attention to detail there really is at Apple.

UNDO doesn’t work as it should in safari ether…

I go to paste some content into a text field (as I do a lot via Moveable Type and my own blog); whoops seems like I had the wrong content in the pasteboard, well let me just undo that–BEEP <nothing happing>– huh? Why can’t I undo my paste??

    :-(
