Encouraging news for Canadians, who saw Apple launch its iTunes Music Store in some European countries a month ago, without a word about a Canadian store.

Canada’s National Post has an interview with EMI Music vice-chairman and North American chief executive David Munns, in which he’s quoted as saying: “I saw Steve Jobs [last week] and he is acutely aware the Canadian consumer is knocking on his door. I’d say it is very much on his radar now.

No firm date or official statement from Apple, then, but it’s more encouraging than complete silence.
