New Font Doctor 6 for registered Suitcase X1 users

I’ve just received an e-mail from Extensis announcing the availability of Font Doctor 6. According to this e-mail, as a registered user of Extensis Suitcase X1 (which included a free copy of Font Doctor 5.5), I am entitled to a free upgrade to Font Doctor 6.

It would really help, however, if Extensis could tell me how I am supposed to get this free upgrade.

If you follow the links in the e-mail and explore the product pages on Extensis’s web site, you won’t find any link to a free download for registered users of Suitcase X1.

What Extensis does not tell you, in fact, is that you have to go to the site of the developer of Font Doctor, i.e. Morrison Software Design. There you will find a downloadable copy of Font Doctor 6, which is free for owners of Font Doctor 5.1 and above.

But really, Extensis could have thought of that when they wrote their e-mail and web page.

(I have had few font-related problems since using Font Doctor to clean up my font collection and fix problem fonts or remove those who could not be fixed. But the product interface and stability could use some work. Hopefully these concerns are addressed in version 6, which I am downloading right now.)
