Backup 2.0.1: Here we go again…

A few days ago I wrote about the Backup 2.0.1 update and the fact that it appeared to have fixed the problems I had been experiencing with automatically scheduled backups.

Well, it now appears that I have spoken too soon… For the past couple of days, at the scheduled time of the backup, I have seen Mac OS X attempting to launch not one, but two copies of the Backup application! Of course, when it attempts to launch the second one, it complains that the Backup application is already running and that it cannot complete the scheduled backup as expected.

But if I dismiss that dialog, Mac OS X then quits the second copy of Backup, and the first copy running in the background does complete the scheduled backup as expected and automatically quits when it’s done.

Still, it means that my automatic daily backups won’t work without human intervention (to dismiss that error dialog) again… Grrr! Time for yet another bug report…

i encountered the same thing. i was previously backing up both ways to .Mac and also to my spare harddisk. the same errors occured. what i did was to go through my .Mac backup…go through my spare harddisk and set the schedule, now it seems to be alright.

I checked my settings, and there are no backups to iDisk scheduled.
