The New York Times has a good article on the iPod, with interviews with Ive and Jobs:

The Guts of a New Machine” by Rob Walker, November 30, 2003 [free registration required]

At this point, the one unanswered question is: Will Microsoft’s WMA become a de facto standard for music files. Will Apple be forced to support that format in addition to their own AAC format? If so, will they decide to support it before it’s too late?

Or will WMA never catch on because it’s Microsoft crap, and it’s too restrictive (compared to AAC)?

And to think that we could all live happily together with MP3 and restrictions-free MP4 ruling the day…
