Panther’s Mail: unable to remove some attachments

I appreciate the new functionality in Mail 1.3 when it comes to handling attachments. However, I keep encountering certain email messages where the “Remove Attachments” command simply doesn’t work.

If I get one of the problematic emails with an attachment and choose the “Remove Attachments” command (in the “Message” menu), the email is temporarily removed from the mailbox and reappears after a second or so, as usual. But when it reappears it still has the attachment attached to it. In other words, removing the attachment failed. Mail doesn’t give any error messages or anything. It just fails to remove the attachment.

This only occurs for certain emails from certain people. I suspect there’s something in the email format coming from these people that Mail doesn’t agree with. I have filed a bug report.
