Panther: More menu bar problems

I mentioned the problem with the AirPort menu extra in the menu bar in Panther earlier on… Even when it does show the status of the dialup connection in the Base Station, it no longer gives the option to connect/disconnect. Bummer.

Now I also have a problem with the sound volume menu extra. It appears, but it is not usable. It looks as if the volume is turned all the way down, and I cannot change it in the menu. But it’s not all the way down and it is indicated properly with the sliders in the Sound control panel. But not in the menu bar.

Since I did an Archive and Install upgrade, I suspect I might have some old cache files that have not been cleared properly. But I don’t know which cache file to trash. I’ve tried a few, but it doesn’t seem to have fixed the problems (although I’m getting the Base Station status in the menu bar now).

I guess there is already a little bit of troubleshooting to do…
