No iTunes Music Store for Europe any time soon

According to this article in The Independent (UK), Apple’s iTunes Music Store will not be available in Europe until 2004 because of disputes between record companies and their artists over licensing.

I suppose such “artists” include Internet-hostile acts who also favor pseudo “CD protection“. It really is mind-boggling to think that supposedly artistically-minded people can fail to see how inevitable the transition to online music distribution of their art is. It makes you wonder what kind of people they think music lovers are.

By the time they get their act together, people will have moved on to something else.

I wonder what’s up with an iTunes Music Store for Canada, though…
