EPL: Arsenal 2 Everton 1 – Tense moments at Highbury

While Cygan should be applauded for his first-ever goal for Arsenal, which was well taken, he still looked too shaky in defence, particularly on that Everton goal. Rooney’s shot should have been at least deflected, if not completely blocked.

Credit to Viera for showing the necessary grit on the second Arsenal goal. Not only did it win the points, but it also limited the amount of “psychological damage” caused by the Everton goal. I don’t know if I would have liked to be that Highbury fan when Patrick yelled his joy straight in his face for a few seconds there, though…

But — the points are ours, and it is ultimately all that matters. Now we need to hope that the players’ legs won’t be too tired on Tuesday for the FA Cup replay against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
