iTunes Music Store RSS Feed Generator

Apple seems to have finally jumped on the RSS feed bandwagon. You can subscribe to feeds for Knowledge Base Changes, Top Mac OS X Documents, Top Safari Knowledge Base Documents, etc.

Even more interestingly, it is now offering access to a RSS feed generator for the iTunes Music Store. You can use this tool to create customized RSS feeds that will keep you informed of new releases, just added songs, etc. in your favorite genres.

The tool still needs some work, though. I have tried to create a “New Releases” feed in which I excluded genres such as “Inspirational” and “Holiday”. (No need to explain why, I don’t think.) But I just had a look at the feed, and it still contains releases classified as “Inspirational”.

Of course, it would also help if I were actually able to shop at the iTunes Music Store. But in spite of numerous rumours, it’s still not available here in Canada.

Still, the feeds are a good idea, and I am looking forward to the day when I am able to actually use them.
