Word X: Need to invent paste-and-select

This is something that I really think would be a welcome improvement. Often times after copying a block of text and pasting it in a Word document, I find myself HAVING to reselect the block of text that I have just pasted in ORDER to apply (or remove) some formatting.

This is because the default behaviour in Word is to paste the block of text where the insertion point is (or paste it over the current selection), and then place the insertion point at the end of the new block of text.

It seems to me that the user should have the option to ask Word to paste the block of text and then make the just-pasted block of text the current selection.

This can probably be achieved with some kind of VisualBasic macro command, but I don’t particularly fancy trying to do this myself. My knowledge of VB is limited, and, knowing Word (and even based on my limited experience), I am quite sure that it is not as simple as it sounds. (Something about a “range” versus a “selection” in VB parlance that I have not quite grasped yet.)
