Funny. I live in Winnipeg. I just received my MacBook Pro. According to the tracking it went from Memphis to Winnipeg. It was struck in transit for a few days so I called about it and was told that it was in Toronto and was waiting to clear customs. It also showed as going from Shanghai direct to Achorage, but I had also called about that as it took three days. I was told the carton it was in was scanned it Korea. He also told me there is a delay in what gets posted to the web and the only entries that are put up there are when the parcel itself is scanned not the shipping container it is in. Obviously it may go through many other locations in a carton and not get updated. Depends on the time of day and connecting flights etc.

I ordered a MacBook Pro last year, and the FedEx site gave me similar results. The package seemed to be stuck in Winnipeg for a few days, then it arrived in Dartmouth. The following day, I recieved it. For the next several days, I continued to monitor the website. Two or three days after the MacBook Pro arrived, the website indicated that it had been delivered to the customer. So much for real time package tracking.

On another note, Canada Post's package tracking is not much better. I know of someone who sent a package from Nova Scotia to Montreal, and a week after the parcel was delivered, the Canada Post website still indicated that it hadn't even passed the local post office ! Then all of a sudden, the entire tracking info was available, but one week late. It seems to me the more you pay, the worst the service.

I have never ordered from the AppleStore and had the order shipped from China, but I never ordered anything but customized hardware. It was always shipped from the USA.
