Pages 2: Should have an option to show all invisible characters except the space

When you select the “Show Invisibles” option in the “View” menu in Pages, here’s what a block of regular text in Times New Roman looks like:

Text in Pages with Show Invisibles on

I don’t know about you, but I personally find this very hard to read. The symbol for the invisible regular space is a blue dot that is quite big and significantly affects the legibility of the text.

In light of this, I think that Pages should definitely have an option to show all invisible characters except for regular spaces. Bare Bones Software’s BBEdit has a similarly big symbol for invisible spaces, but BBEdit also has an option to show all invisibles without showing the spaces.

Microsoft Word has no such option, but its symbol for the regular space is a much less intrusive tiny grey dot, which would be another option. However, seeing that Apple has chosen a solid blue scheme for its invisible characters, the BBEdit approach might be more appropriate.

Something has to be done, however. Pages is pretty much unusable with the “Show Invisibles” option on, except for document troubleshooting, I suppose.
