Betalogue

I am afraid I have had to disable the comment form, which means that you won’t be able to submit comments. Apparently, something in my blog has been monopolizing over 80 percent of the processing power of my host’s server, and my host is not happy about it.

The host reports that he’s getting a httpd process that takes up an enormous amount of CPU power:

I have no idea what might be causing this. My host is saying it might be a bug in the blogging software (I am running pMachine Pro 2.3), but I highly doubt it, given that I have been using this software for a year and a half without any problems, and that I haven’t made any changes to the software in the past few months.

I suspect that it might be some kind of security issue, but I have absolutely no idea what to do about it. The host is not exactly being helpful, asking me to solve the problem by myself, as if I were a PHP or security expert. I thought that was exactly what I was paying them to be.

I’ve deactivated the comment form for now, to see if that makes any difference. But it’s not a long-term solution, as I feel that reader comments are an essential part of this blog.
