Word 2004: Deleting first paragraph after manual page break inserts an extra space

Here’s another buggy behaviour in Word 2004 that is caused by the use of manual page breaks. I’ve already described problems with selecting text after a manual page break.

Now, if you have selected the first paragraph after a manual page break (without having selected the manual page break itself, that is), including the paragraph mark, and if you press the Forward Delete key on your keyboard, Word will delete the paragraph (including the paragraph mark), but then it will insert an extra space at the beginning of the following paragraph.

If, on the other hand, you use the regular Delete key to delete the paragraph, Word deletes the entire paragraph, but not the paragraph mark, even though it’s selected.

This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. It’s Microsoft.
