All in all, a very good week-end for Arsenal, who regained the top spot in the league after their win at Villa Park while Manchester United lost at Molineux against Wolves and Chelsea were held to a 0-0 draw by Birmingham at home at Stamford Bridge.

It was not a great game for Arsenal against Aston Villa by any stretch of the imagination. The two goals by Thierry Henry were both controversial and debatable. But on the whole the win was certainly deserved, as Aston Villa didn’t really manage to create anything in front of Jens Lehmann’s goal. Players like Pirès were perhaps guilty of some cockiness at times, but they didn’t have to pay for it, and last time I checked, it wasn’t illegal…

Birmingham fully deserved their point at Stamford Bridge, even though they were rather fortunate to see a Joe Cole effort hit the post and to see their makeshift defense save what seemed to be a sure goal by Gallas on the goal line in the second half.

So, Arsenal are tops, Manchester drops, and Chelsea fail to reduce the gap. Cool!
