There’s still one thing missing from Mail.app that makes it impossible for me to adopt it:

Per-folder/mailbox column settings. And I don’t just mean sort order, and the fact that some folders remember whether the From/To column is visible. I mean different widths, ordering, sort order, visibility for each.

For example, in the folders I route my various mailing list digests/messages to, I only need (want!) to see From, Subject, and Date. Can’t seem to find any way to do this in Mail. All it seems to remember on a per-folder basis is the sort order and whether you’re viewing threaded or not.

Entourage has this, in fact Eudora mail for Palm OS has this. I think Claris E-Mailer had this ability. In fact, the only email client I can think of that *can’t* do this is Mail.app.

Odd that more haven’t complained about it, there are a few scattered messages on Apple’s discussion boards asking this same question.

Yes, I agree that this is a problem, although it doesn’t bother me that much personally.

Strangely, Mail DOES support different column settings, but only for boxes containing out-going mail (Out and Sent).

I agree that it’s not enough.
