A new “home” for Betalogue

My blog Betalogue has moved. You will need to UPDATE your bookmarks to access it in its new location.

In fact, it is still on the same server, but it’s using an entirely different engine. Instead of static pages generated locally by Radio UserLand and uploaded by Radio’s less-than-reliable FTP upstreaming feature, this blog now consists of dynamic pages generated by pMachine.

The new home page for Betalogue is:

http://www.latext.com/pm/betalogue

(No suffix required.)

The new RSS feed is at:

http://www.latext.com/pm/betalogue.xml

I will write about my experience setting up pMachine later. Suffice to say that it’s fairly straightforward if you use the default templates/presentation provided by pMachine — but if you want to customize the presentation, as I obviously did, it’s quite a bit of work, and it’s definitely not for the faint-hearted.

Right now, I think I have most of the main features working alright. But I have probably made mistakes here and there, so bear with me, and don’t hesitate to let me know if you encounter anything strange or broken. (You may click on my name below to access the email form.)

Unfortunately, at this point I don’t know how to import Radio archives in pMachine, but I’ll try and find out if it’s feasible later on. In the mean time, you may search the old archive using the form on the menu on the left-hand side, or go to the old blog using the “Go to old blog” link, also in the menu on the left.

Betalogue is now entirely server-based, which means that you can search its archive dynamically (again, on the left), although there’s not much in it at present, for obvious reasons.

You may also submit your comments using the appropriate links and forms, and ask the server to remember your identity so that you don’t have to submit the same information twice. You may also register with the site(using the link at the top of the menu on the left), which further simplifies the process of submitting comments.

Finally, I have enabled the “Trackback” and “Pingback” features, although I’m not quite familiar with the concepts just yet. I hope that they are properly configured, but if it doesn’t work as expected, please let me know.

Thanks for your interest!
